Australia » Tasmania part 1

2012-02-02 ( Thursday ) 02:09:57 GMT+1

Okay, be prepared for a loooong post this time, because we spent 8 days on Tasmania and it was absolutely amazing!!! the tent we got (back in Perth) passed its first real test with an A++++!!! Since our budget thinking was fully activated again, we decided to give it a go.

The cheapest option ended up with hiring a very old car (Lanos). But as we like to underline- old doesn't mean worse! (maybe it is easy to say when you are young ; )). Anyway, we were up in the air again on 24th of January- Andrew's 27th BDay (young? hmmm....) and started our Tassie adventure in Hobart.

We were lucky again, since a "friend of a friend" helped us out again! Stan - a friend of Magda's uncle- picked us up at the airport and we felt his traveling. A proper sightseeing spirit straight away on the 1st day! He showed us Richmond, which was a really pretty place (almost everything still the same as in the early days) and we gave the Australian pies a second chance- pepper steak- much better! We realized how amazingly Hobart is located from the look out. Yeap, Stan took us to a pretty high mountain next to the city and the sea.
This is what Tasmania is all about - lakes and mountains surrounded by beaches and the sea! One national park next to another! We continued sightseeing in the afternoon together with Stan and his wife Mary.

The next day in the morning we received the keys to the car and were ready to go! A national park pass and a fishing license on the dashboard, a tent and some "camping food" in the backseat, and a map and essential tourist leaflets in our hands... So what happened later? Check our next post... ; )
